Installation

System requirements and how to install the Nebula.NET CLI and GUI.

Requirements

  • Windows 10/11 for the installer (it ships the CLI and desktop GUI). On Linux and macOS, install the cross-platform CLI instead — see Linux, macOS & CI.
  • Assemblies targeting .NET Framework 4.8 or .NET 6 / 8 / 9 / 10.
  • No .NET runtime is required on the machine running the Windows installer — it is self-contained. The cross-platform dotnet tool needs .NET 8+ on the machine.

Cross-platform / CI. The protector also ships as a dotnet tool (Delta1Labs.Nebula.Tool) that runs on Windows, Linux and macOS — ideal for build agents and containers. Install it with dotnet tool install --global Delta1Labs.Nebula.Tool. See Linux, macOS & CI.

Install with the setup program

  1. Download the installer from the download page.
  2. Run it and follow the wizard (it shows the license agreement and lets you choose the install folder).
  3. When it finishes you’ll have:
    • nebula — the command-line tool, on your PATH.
    • Nebula.NET — the desktop GUI, in the Start menu.

This prints the version and your current edition (Free until you register a license).

A note on antivirus warnings

Newly released, unsigned installers can trigger reputation-based warnings in some antivirus products or SmartScreen. Our binaries are published from the official Delta1 Labs GitHub organization. If you see a warning, verify you downloaded from the official releases page and allow the file; reputation builds over time.

Uninstalling

Use Add or remove programs in Windows, or re-run the setup and choose remove. Uninstalling cleans up the installed files.
